Happy Holidays everyone! It's that time of year again. It's time to think
about holding elections for club officers. If you are interested in stepping
up and increasing your commitment and volunteering to serve as an officer of
the club, please reply to this email or call (805) 231-0485. We will be
voting for club members to serve in the following positions:

• President (1)
• Vice President (3)
• Secretary/Financial Officer (1)

We will be holding a meeting/party in January after all of the stress of the
holidays has dissipated. At the party we will be announcing candidates for
club positions and voting on them at the same meeting. We will also be
giving out our award for Volunteer of the Year. Because the meeting in
January will also serve as our annual holiday party, the date and location
are yet to be determined. Keep you eye out for another email with the

It's that time of year again and I'm at the California Democratic Party Convention at, of all places, the JW Marriott at "L.A Live". This is a brand new hotel, yet this is their choice for carpet in the conference rooms which are all named after precious metals or gems.

Corporatist Rising

Not many people realize that we have a constitutionally limited, representative democracy in this country. It hasn't worked perfectly, but it did work better than no democracy at all. I say DID because it is now dead. This post isn't about the election Tuesday in Mass or the DLC infiltration of the of the Obama administration or any of those little problems. All of those little problems are swept away with today's Supreme Court decision.
